Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the North Wales Cyclocross Group (“we”, “us”) uses information on nwcx.org and in the NWCX app (iPhone, iPad, and Android).

Who we are

We are a volunteer group that organises cyclocross racing in North Wales. We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for advertising.

What this covers

• The public website (events, results, league tables, about, and Latest news)
• The NWCX mobile app, which shows the same public information
• Optional organiser push notifications in the app
• The password-protected admin area used by organisers

Information we publish

Race results and league standings are sporting records. They may include rider name, race number, club, category (including youth categories), finishing time, position, and points. This is published so riders, families, and clubs can follow the league.

Event pages may include venue, date, schedule, and other details provided by organisers.

The NWCX app

The app does not ask you to create an account, and it does not use advertising or tracking SDKs. It loads public content from nwcx.org over HTTPS.

You can opt in to push notifications from organisers (for example when results are published, or other short operational updates). If you do, we store a device push token (not your name or email) so we can deliver that message. The same message text is also shown in the Latest news section on the website and in the app (we keep only the most recent messages). You can turn notifications off in the app at any time, which deletes or disables that token. We do not use push notifications for marketing or advertising.

If you search by rider or club name, that search text is sent to our servers so matching results can be shown. The app does not store passwords or payment details.

“Enter on Nifty” and “Facebook group” open those sites in your device browser. Those services have their own privacy policies.

Latest news

Latest news on the website and in the app lists recent organiser messages that were also sent (or prepared) as app notifications. Those entries show the message title, body, and the date and time in the UK. They do not include your device token or any personal account details.

The website

Anyone can view events, results, and league tables without signing in. Optional search filters work the same way as in the app.

The site is hosted by Vercel. We use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to understand general usage and performance (for example page views and load times). This is not used to identify you for marketing.

Race and site content is stored in a database hosted by Neon (PostgreSQL).

Admin accounts

A small number of organisers have admin logins. We store email address, a hashed password, and session information. Password-reset emails are sent only if that account exists. Admins can upload results, events, and documents needed to run the league.

Children

Youth categories race in our events. Names and results for those categories may appear in public results and league tables as part of the sport. The app and public website are not used to collect extra information from children.

Cookies and similar technology

The public site and app do not require you to accept marketing cookies. Admin users get an essential login cookie so they stay signed in. Vercel may set cookies or similar technology for analytics and performance on the website.

How long we keep data

Race results and league history are kept as a public record of the sport. Latest news messages are kept only while they remain in the short public list (organisers can remove them). Admin session and password-reset records are kept only as long as needed for security. Opt-in push tokens are kept while notifications are enabled, then removed when you opt out or the token stops working. Analytics data is retained according to Vercel’s practices.

Sharing

We do not sell personal data. We share information only as needed to operate the service:

• Vercel — website hosting, analytics, and performance
• Neon — database hosting
• Apple Push Notification service — only if you opt in to organiser notifications on Apple devices
• Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — only if you opt in to organiser notifications on Android
• Email delivery — admin password-reset messages
• Nifty Entries and Facebook — only if you choose to open those links

We may also disclose information if required by law.

Your rights

UK data protection law may give you rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data we hold. For published race results we may need to keep a sporting record. Contact us via the Facebook group or nwcx.org if you want to make a request.
